Electric Handpiece

The handpiece is one of the most commonly used dental instruments in practice today which is why it is important for Dr. Adams to use the best that is available. There are basically two types of handpieces, air-driven and electric. Air driven are less expensive and have been around for decades. Air driven handpieces are also noiser leading to more stress in the chair and not recommended for patients who have dental anxiety. Dr. Adams uses Electric Handpieces because they are much stronger than air-driven due to the fact that a motor is spinning the bur as opposed to air. This allows Dr. Adams to remove decay at a much faster pace which cuts down on the time it takes to complete a procedure, adding to patient comfort. Electric handpieces produce smoother results and flexibility in the prep due to its stable speed. Dr. Adams' goal is to provide patients with a superior end result which is why Dr. Adams uses electric handpieces.
